I was once told that 5% of your employees are there to steal no matter what, 5% would NEVER steal no matter what, and the other 90% may or may not steal depending on need and how they are treated.  It’s been my experience that those numbers are accurate.

According to Jack Hayes International,

• One in every 39.5 employees was apprehended for theft from their employer in 2013. (Based on over 3.0 million employees.) 

If you figure that only 1 in 4 that steals is apprehended, that means 1 out of 10 is stealing.  So if you’re working in a store with 20 employees you have 2 thieves there.  Watch out!
