From our friends at Cracked, here’s a list of some things that companies do to deceive you on their label to get you to buy something. Since I’m trying to eat healthier, I’ve gotten pretty good at reading labels these days, so you won’t see me buying Vitamin Water because it’s “healthy” (#23) and I know which foods are appropriate to buy organic (#18) but I will definitely be looking harder at the “Whole Grains” claim (#13). But some of these seem not only deceptive but more like all-out lies. I guess we call them “alternative facts” now…
Marketers like to get clever when it comes to the products they’re trying to get you to buy. And by “get clever,” we, of course, mean “come as close to lying to the consumer as legally possible without actually doing so.”
So, the next time you’re reading a label, keep the following in mind …
