CVS  President Helena Foulkes has confirmed that CVS will be bringing back the Longs name in the state of California.  “We recognize the brand loyalty that Longs built, and we aim to recapture customers that may have gone to other retailers because they felt they had lost something.”

As part of the re-conversion, CVS has announced they will also tile over the carpet, pay their employees more money and add 50% more hours of labor back to each store.   Full conversion will begin soon and is expected to be completed on April 1st, 2016.

  1. wish they could give back my life I had with longs! Loyal longs employee and customer! Changing the name is just lipstick! They will never recover the loyalty of true longs customers or workers

  2. I am in hopes that the added hours will be in the pharmacy. CVS has gotten so busy with more prescriptions that they definitely have more mistakes and much longer wait times. At first I was thrilled with the service and talked to the pharmacy dept when the service became in unacceptable. I soon noticed that all employees were extremely busy and professional and understaffed which has contributed to far to many errors. The employees are great the under scheduling IS NOT!

    1. This is so true. CVS pay their employees less and less benefits. I work in the pharmacy and hope they add more hours in this department. Longs is a lot better brand and they are nice to their employees.

  3. I was with Longs for 11 years before the transition to CVS started. I am extremely disappointed at how little they value their employees, to CVS you are just a number and they will not hesitate to replace you. They say they want exceptional customer service from their employees, how can we give exceptional service when there are no hours and with all the extra crap they load on us. And if you make more than $20 dollars an hour be expecting a notice that CVS is going to cut your pay. This is what happened to one of my co workers, they cut her wage by reducing her pay by $7 dollars . This is by far the worst company I have worked for.

  4. I worked at Longs for over thirty years, I’ve been retired for some years. I hate what CVS has done to the stores, the selection and variety, the layout, the carpet but the worst is what they’ve done to both their customers and employees. It’s a shame I really wish things could go back, but changing a name alone will not make it work.

    1. Denise, it was an April Fools joke…you’re definitely right about CVS, sadly I’m still working for them but probably retiring soon too. They won’t even CLEAN the carpets! Hope you are doing well, I miss Longs too.
