Just one more bit of news about our favorite ex-Longs/ex-Duane Reed/ex-Safeway guy.   He will be working at least until the end of the year to help Dollar General fend off the new challenge of Family Dollar and Dollar Tree.

An analyst said “the extension of Dollar General chief executive officer’s (Dreiling’s) term was a “big win” for the company at a time it is facing growing competition from smaller format stores by Wal-Mart Stores Inc and Target Corp .”  Well,  everyone is entitled to their opinion.     He had sold most of his stock last March so he wasn’t in it for the long run anyway.
