{"id":602,"date":"2015-03-27T17:11:09","date_gmt":"2015-03-28T00:11:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=602"},"modified":"2015-03-30T06:21:11","modified_gmt":"2015-03-30T13:21:11","slug":"another-great-job-by-the-karma-truck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=602","title":{"rendered":"Another Great Job By The Karma Truck"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/img1.etsystatic.com\/025\/0\/7635326\/il_340x270.603537681_uj7b.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"186\" height=\"148\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Regardless of how you may feel about Chick-Fil-A and their political beliefs, you&#8217;ll have to agree that this guy got what was coming to him. \u00a0It&#8217;s one thing to want to express your opinion about a fast food chain&#8217;s political agenda, but another thing entirely to intentionally berate an employee who has nothing to do with it AND post it online for the world to see. \u00a0I hope he and his family enjoy their new life in an RV and that he ends up having to eat at Chick-Fil-A a lot because they accept food stamps&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em>You may recall the former technology executive who decided it would be a great idea to berate a Chick-fil-A employee for working for a \u201chateful\u201d and \u201canti-gay\u201d corporation simply because the company\u2019s owners practice Christian values.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Then former Vante CFO and treasurer, Adam Mark Smith, thought it would be an even better idea to upload his nasty rant to YouTube for the world to see.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Well Mr. Smith certainly reaped a big steaming pile of karma, and then some. And many people are saying its exactly what he deserved.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In the\u00a0video, Smith bullied\u00a0Arizona Chick-fil-A employee Rachel Elizabeth\u00a0at the drive-thru window when she\u00a0gave him, a \u201cprotester\u201d, a free cup of water:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Former Lecturer\/Corporate CFO Bullies Chick-fil-A Clerk\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Jg-jzlWcc0E?start=10&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Smith: \u201cYou know why I\u2019m getting my free water, right?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Elizabeth: \u201cNo.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith: \u201cBecause Chick-Fil-A is a hateful corporation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Elizabeth: \u201cI disagree. We don\u2019t treat any of our customers differently..\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith: \u201cI know, but the corporation gives money to hate groups. Hate groups. Just because people want to kiss another guy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Elizabeth: \u201cI\u2019m staying neutral on this subject\u2026 my personal beliefs don\u2019t belong in the workplace.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith: \u201cYeah I believe that too, I don\u2019t believe corporations should be giving money to hateful groups.. I\u2019ll take my water\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><span class=\"para_break\">Despite Smith\u2019s\u00a0anger, Elizabeth\u00a0was nothing but polite and cheerful, although her eyes betrayed her obvious discomfort. She even wished him a nice day as he drove off:<br \/>\n<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Elizabeth: \u201cI\u2019m really uncomfortable that you\u2019re videotaping this..It\u2019s my pleasure to serve you, always.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith: \u201cOh, of course, I\u2019m glad that I can take a little bit of money from Chick-Fil-A, and maybe less money to hate groups.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Elizabeth: \u201cWell, we\u2019re always happy to serve all our guests.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-3013044\/Ex-CFO-father-four-food-stamps-looking-job-viral-video-protesting-Chick-fil-left-unemployed.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Daily Mail<\/a>\u00a0reported what happened next:<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cSmith told 20\/20: \u2018I got into work and the receptionist, the first thing, big eyes, \u2018<strong>Adam, what did you do?\u2019<\/strong>, she said. \u2018<strong>The voicemail is completely full, and it\u2019s full of threats<\/strong>.\u201d\u2019<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>The next day, Smith lost his job and his former employer\u00a0released a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketwired.com\/press-release\/vante-of-tucson-az-regrets-actions-of-former-cfo-1686870.htm\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a>\u00a0noting that Smith\u2019s actions \u201cdid not reflect our\u00a0corporate values in any way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith \u00a0removed the video and posted an apology video in its place several days later. But the damage was already done.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Chick-fil-A Drive Thru Confrontation - Adam Smith Apology\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Qihe0_4xSfQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>Many remarked on how little emotion Smith showed in his apology video, and some ex-friends later claimed\u00a0he only did it as a resume-booster as he looked for a new job as a CFO or YouTube-based\u00a0commentator.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>According to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bostonnewstime.com\/regional\/97250-ex-cfo-on-food-stamps-after-making-viral-video-protesting-chick-fil-a.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Boston News<\/a>\u00a0(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ijreview.com\/2015\/03\/281770-3-years-after-bullying-this-chick-fil-a-employee-mans-life-has-taken-a-surprising-turn\/\">via<\/a> Kara Pendleton at IJR), Smith\u00a0went from earning $200,000 a year, with cushy stock options valued at $1 million, to losing everything. His family even had to move into an RV.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Smith then got lucky. He\u00a0was offered another CFO in Portland a few months later. He celebrated: \u201c<strong>Yeah\u2026I\u2019m back!<\/strong>\u201d he told his friends.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But once his new boss realized Smith was the ranting creep in the video, he was fired once again.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Now the former high-flying\u00a0Smith says\u00a0that he and his family are on \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talkradio101.com\/pages\/21238198.php?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">food stamps<\/a>.<\/strong>\u00a0He has self-published\u00a0a memoir titled\u00a0A Million Dollar Cup of Water:\u00a0Discovering the Wealth in Authenticity.Has he come full circle? Has he really changed? We don\u2019t know, but certainly hope so.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And what about that graceful and kind Chick-Fil-A employee, Elizabeth? She quickly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=xlayvgF-0p0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">accepted <\/a>Smith\u2019s apology:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Rachel Elizabeth who was attacked at Chick-fil-A Speaks out (Your World w  Cavuto - Fox News)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xlayvgF-0p0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>She also noted that she felt bad for all that\u2019s happened to him since he first posted the video.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>So did Smith deserve it? It certainly seems so. For those who shout back: \u201cFreedom of Speech!\u201d Well, of course we all have that freedom. But there are consequences to that speech.
