(Photo: Business Wire)\" width=\"375\" height=\"211\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last month<a href=\"http:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=1860\"> I told you about a program coming to CVS for curbside pickup<\/a> and mentioned several obstacles I saw that could impede it being a success. \u00a0 Well, another major retailer has already given up on it after less than 2 years.<\/p>\n<p>Target is bailing out, and with the synergy between Target and CVS right now, I&#8217;m sure there&#8217;s some internal communication between the two and I have the strong feeling that Curbside will not be rolled out to all 7800+ CVS stores as promised. \u00a0Since store employees in my area haven&#8217;t heard a thing about it, it may not even go any farther than the few test areas they&#8217;ve rolled it out to.<\/p>\n<p>Coming soon&#8211;Drone Delivery!! \u00a0Order your toothpaste, prescription and some bathroom towels from Target and they will be dropped on your doorstep within the hour. \u00a0I probably wouldn&#8217;t order a glass vase though.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>If you were hoping that Target\u2019s curbside pickup would eventually reach your city, your hopes are for naught: Target tells Consumerist the pilot program will be discontinued effective June 15.<span id=\"more-10242409\"><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After Consumerist received word that the program \u2014 which kicked off in October 2014 with partner Curbside, and was being tested in 121 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles \u2014 would be shut down, we reached out to Target headquarters.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The company confirmed what we\u2019d heard, saying in an emailed statement that it had \u201clearned a lot\u201d from the pilot, but \u201cas we\u2019ve shared for months now, at this time Target is focused on making sure we deliver and execute on retail fundamentals.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>That includes devoting more of its resources toward \u201cenhancing\u201d its \u201ccore of digital-stores offerings such as Cartwheel, Order Pickup and shipping online orders from stores.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe pilot with Curbside will be discontinued in mid-June as part of those efforts,\u201d Target says.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Because we\u2019re feeling nostalgic, here\u2019s a (very brief) timeline of events that led up to the program going kaput:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>August 2014<\/strong>: Target and Curbside <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/twincities\/news\/2014\/10\/20\/target-offers-curbside-pickup-through-startups-app.html\" target=\"_blank\">launched their pilot program<\/a> at stores in the San Francisco Bay area.
