So here’s what Chain Store Age calls the 4 best new retailer awards. \u00a0 \u00a0 I didn’t know there’s an “Athleisure” market, for me it’s just shorts and a ratty t-shirt at the gym, I guess I’m not interested in making a fashion statement while all sweaty. \u00a0 “Fresh Thyme”? \u00a0I see what you did there. \u00a0The pizza place? \u00a0There are 2 different chains already here in So Cal doing the same concept, both are pretty good but I don’t think it’s anything new. \u00a0 I think I’d like to shop at Marbles The Brain Store though, because I think I’m losing my marbles and I could probably find some new ones there…<\/p>\n

Chain Store Age on Thursday announced the winners of its first annual Breakout Retailer Awards, which honors emerging retail\/restaurant concepts that are innovative in their segment and show strong potential for growth. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Selected by the editorial board of Chain Store Age, the winning lineup include a hardgoods retailer with a new twist on games, a specialty merchant whose stores combine the best of online and offline shopping, a farmer\u2019s market-styled grocer with mass appeal, and a fast-casual restaurant operator that\u2019s bringing food customization to a new level.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cRetailers have to go the extra mile to stand out and succeed in today\u2019s disrupted marketplace,\u201d said Marianne Wilson, editor-in-chief, Chain Store Age. \u201cIn their own unique way, each of the winning brands has done just that.
