{"id":1746,"date":"2016-03-01T09:50:32","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T17:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=1746"},"modified":"2016-03-01T09:55:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T17:55:53","slug":"15-foods-that-have-changed-for-the-worse-or-smaller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=1746","title":{"rendered":"15 Foods That Have Changed For The Worse (Or Gotten Smaller)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve talked about the <a href=\"http:\/\/re-tales.net\/?p=369\" target=\"_blank\">shrinking Cadbury Eggs<\/a> before, but a lot of these are just plain tragic. \u00a0 I happen to love Breyer&#8217;s <del>Ice Cream\u00a0<\/del> \u00a0Frozen Dairy Dessert but I&#8217;ll never look at it the same way again. \u00a0And Cadbury LITERALLY cutting corners on us is shameful, especially in light of the shrinking egg thing. \u00a0As for candy bars, they can&#8217;t even call the big ones &#8220;King Size&#8221; any more because kings everywhere would sue them. \u00a0 The other day I was looking at our checkout candy bar section, and there&#8217;s a tiny pouch (and by tiny, I mean 1.4 OUNCES, or enough to fit in the palm of your hand) \u00a0of Dove Chocolate Covered Fruit and the price was $2.69. \u00a0 I know I&#8217;m getting old, but it wasn&#8217;t that long ago that $2.69 bought you more than a pound of candy, not 1\/10th of a pound. \u00a0The bags were mostly expired so I guess the makers of Dove (M &amp; M Mars) aren&#8217;t fooling very many people. \u00a0When asked about the shrinking Cadbury Egg (it actually used to be the size of a real egg, just look at them now!) Now, though, for some reason on grocery shelves we&#8217;re back to the stupid spheres. Go to the store and purchase some Lunchables pizza. We guarantee it won&#8217;t look like the image above. In the years since your childhood, everything&#8217;s gotten all&#8230;dinky. The pepperoni slices are about half the size they used to be, and altogether the food content in the package <a href=\"http:\/\/consumerist.com\/2012\/05\/30\/lunchables-fall-victim-to-the-grocery-shrink-ray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">is about 25 percent less<\/a>. Something about making healthy choices? Remember as a kid eating a warm slice of apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on top? Well, if Breyers has its way, your children will never get that experience. Nearly across the board, they&#8217;ve switched from ice cream to &#8220;frozen dairy dessert.&#8221; Why? Like, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chowhound.com\/post\/taco-bell-pre-90s-good-notice-difference-751748\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">legitimately better<\/a>. Take, for instance, the Nachos BellGrande. They used to have onions! And the Mexican Pizza? They even at one point got so smug that Cadbury\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/davidlavallee.wordpress.com\/2012\/04\/05\/5-grams-from-justice-join-the-fight-to-restore-the-full-sized-cadbury-egg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lied on their own website<\/a>, claiming the eggs\u00a0\u201chaven\u2019t gotten smaller, you\u2019ve gotten bigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"fr-tag\">Sorry, Cadbury, but I won&#8217;t let this injustice stand. You know how big a Creme Egg should be? The size of <em>an egg<\/em>. That chocolate powder in a tin used to be called Nestle Quik, <em>not<\/em> Nesquik. Also, it used to taste way better. But apparently, it&#8217;s important that our chocolate milk not have too much sugar in it, so they&#8217;ve cut the good stuff <a href=\"http:\/\/byebyenesquik.blogspot.com\/2009\/01\/im-dedicating-this-blog-to-food-i-loved.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">multiple<\/a>\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/leisure\/2015\/04\/13\/nestle-says-it-will-take-artificial-colors-out-nesquik-powders-and-will-cut\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">times<\/a> from the recipe. Since you&#8217;ve been a kid, they&#8217;ve gotten <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadcaterpillar.com\/are-reeses-peanut-butter-cups-smaller-an-investigative-journalism-piece\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">smaller<\/a>. And for what? That&#8217;s when the company decided to stop serving their delectably delicious deep fried apple pies in place of bland, chewy, baked apple pies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fr-tag\">Just in the last year, though, the Golden Arches has started to come to its senses, and you can once again find the deep fried versions in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ocweekly.com\/restaurants\/is-mcdonalds-bringing-back-its-fried-apple-pies-6616012\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">some test markets<\/a>.
